How to make Guyanese Metemgee With Duff: Guyanese Metemgee Easy Recipe

In this week’s episode, our guest Chanté cooked an amazing dish called Metemgee with Duff. Metemgee or metem is essential a dish made of ground provisions (root vegetables) such as cassava, eddoes, and white sweet potatoes as well as plantains and cooked in seasoned coconut milk. It is all cooked in a savory broth of coconut milk and spices until tender.

Metemgee (Metem)
1 bag , frozen Cassava, quartered
1 yellow plantain, quartered
1 sweet potato (purple skin), quartered
1 Corn, (cut in 3/4)
1 onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 wiri wiri pepper
1 packet Maggi Coconut milk
1 can coconut water
2 eggs (optional)
1 bunch parsley (garnish)
2 sprigs of thyme

Seasonings:
1tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp All purpose
Salt & pepper to taste

Duff (Dumplings)
3 cups flour
1tbsp butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
1tsp baking powder
Water
