Samba Godhumai Rava Upma Recipe | Indian Breakfast | Wheat Daliya Upma by Anithaa's Kitchen


Hi Friends, Welcome to Anithaa’s Kitchen! Today’s recipe of the day Simple But Healthy Indian Breakfast.

Godhumai rava upma is a staple breakfast at home, filling and nutritious with vegetables added to it Optional. Now I am sharing this recipe without veggies it’s simple cooking methods using everyday ingredients. Wheat rava (godhumai rava is not refined, it has more nutrition in it comparatively to rava (Semolina).This is a very healthy and flavourful south Indian breakfast recipe. • 2 cup Wheat Daliya rava roasted

• 1 Onion finely chopped

• 5 Shallot onions finely chopped

• 2 Green chilli

• 2 tblsp Ginger  finely Chopped

• Pinch of Asafoetida

• ¼ cup grated coconut

• 4 cups hot water Use ½ cups for fluffy upma

• Salt to taste

To temper

• 2 tblsp coconut oil
• 2 Dried red chilli
• 1 tsp mustard seeds
• 1 tsp urad dal split
• 1 tsp chana dal
• 1 sprig curry leaves
• 2 tsp coriander leaves


• Heat a pan in the coconut oil  fry the rava in medium flame for 2 minutes still love the aroma. Keep it aside

• In the same pan heat oil and temper with mustard (should splutter),urad dal,chana dal. Let dal turn golden crisp.

• Add pinch of asafoetida, slit green chillies, ginger finely chopped, finely chopped onions and fry till onion just turns transparent.

• Add the 4 cups of hot water After it boils, add the wheat rava little by little in a sprinkled way. Stir well.

• Add salt and grated coconut let it boil in high flame until the water content reduces and the mixture turns like porridge consistency.

• Now simmer the flame to low and cook covered for 15 minutes or till all the water is absorbed and you get a soft upma.

• Finally hot Wheat Daliya Upma is ready and serve with coconut chutney.

• You can add veggie and 2tsp of coconut oil at end for a unique flavour and love aroma (Now I’m prepared using Coconut oil
